Run by Nick Goldsmith and his wife Louise, Hidden Valley Bushcraft, in Pensford, Bristol, offers a wide variety of activities involving wilderness living skills, survival and outdoor education. Activities can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities.

In 2017 Louise and Nick added the Woodland Kindergarten to their Hidden Valley Bushcraft offerings, providing a unique location for children to develop into resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.

Whether you want to increase your self esteem and confidence, learn a new skill, reconnect with nature and the outdoors, create happy memories with your family, friends and colleagues then visit Hidden Valley Bushcraft and let us show you a new way of life — the wild side...

A previous Royal Marine Commando for 11 years, Nick has a wealth of experience and knowledge of bushcraft and survival. During his time in the military he was deployed all over the world, including the Middle East, the Arctic, the jungle and desert. Nick has drawn upon his survival skills in his work and has also taught survival skills to the new recruits at the Royal Marines Training Centre. Prior to his military service he was a children’s activity leader.

His love of the outdoors and woodland environment was first sparked as a child, when he would spend his time building shelters, camping, fishing, trapping and foraging with friends.

After purchasing a woodland in 2012, he began by teaching family and friends the skills he'd learnt during childhood and throughout his military career. This passion along with his military background and the ability to connect with all age groups, makes him a diverse bushcraft instructor.

Nick specialises in wild cooking and is fanatical about the food of our native British Isles.

Nick is a Level 4 NCFE certified Bushcraft Instructor, holding a level 4 NCFE cert in Ethnobotany and has qualifications in Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Professional Cookery, GNAS Archery Leadership and First Aid. He also holds a clean enhanced DBS.

Nick is now a best selling author of 'Re-wild your mind'

As well as helping to run Hidden Valley Bushcraft,  Louise is a former Specialist Child Abuse Investigator in A & S Police. With a wealth of experience in the world of safeguarding, Louise also holds a Level 3 Forest School Qualification, Level 3 NVQ in Early Years and is a trustee for the Emily Jordan Foundation, helping individuals with learning difficulties to lead fulfilling lives.

Louise is qualified in paediatric first aid and has a clean enhanced DBS.

We occasionally use a number self employed bushcraft instructors who all have relevant qualifications and/or experience, and all possess clean enhanced DBS checks.
